Opening next week at the Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art at Kansas State University is Art for Every Home: Associated American Artists, 1934–2000, a comprehensive exhibition of the commercial enterprise known for publishing and distributing fine art prints. Associated American Artists (also known as AAA) sought to make original art available to ordinary Americans through mail-order catalogues and accessible public galleries. Represented artists included Thomas Hart Benton, John Steuart Curry, Grant Wood, and many others.
Marquand Books produced the exhibition catalogue for Art for Every Home. The 288-page book was designed by John Hubbard and features over 200 images. It is distributed by Yale University Press.
Art for Every Home will be on view at the Beach Museum through January 31, 2016. The show will then travel to Grey Art Gallery at New York University in April 2016, to the American Textile History Museum in Lowell, MA, in September 2016, and to Syracuse University Art Galleries in January 2017.
