On September 26, The San Diego Museum of Art will open The Art of Music, an exhibition that explores the intersection of music and art. Using works from the museum’s permanent collection and loans from other major museums and private collections, SDMA has gathered an incredible sampling of works from throughout history and across cultures. In all, the exhibition and its catalogue collect over 200 works of art, including paintings, sculptures, photographs, textiles, contemporary videos, installations, sound art, and musical instruments.
The exhibition catalogue for The Art of Music includes a dozen essays and over 250 color images. The 318-page book was designed by Susan Kelly and produced by Marquand Books. To purchase a copy, visit Yale University Press.
The Art of Music will be on view through January 2016.
